Pamela J. Cranston, 57 of Algonquin, passed away at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, Illinois on Thursday, May 3, 2018.
She was born November 26, 1960 in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of John Robert and Georgiana (Lee) VanScoyoc. She grew up in Prospect Heights and graduated from Wheeling High School. She was united in marriage to Donald H. Cranston on November 12, 1983 in Arlington Heights. The couple lived for a time in Mundelein until moving to Lake In The Hills in 1989 and Algonquin in 1999. Pam taught at the Algonquin Preschool for many years. She was an avid Cubs fan, participated in a bowling league, enjoyed country music and camping. She loved time with her family and friends and adored her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Don of Algonquin, her daughters, Rebecca (Jacob) Keltner, Amy Cranston and her fiancé, (Ryan Hoven) and Holly (Tirso) Castro Rodriguez all of Crystal Lake, her grandchildren, Caleb, Carson, Milo and Max, her brothers and sister, Steven (Lorie) VanScoyoc of Arlington Heights, Debra (John) Maguire of Shiloh, Illinois and David (Lisa) VanScoyoc of Crystal Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service on Friday, May 11th at Light of Christ Lutheran Church, 100 Hanson Road, Algonquin. Burial will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Light of Christ Church. Remembering our wonderful and Dear Aunt Pam and her wonderful personality and gentle soul will always be remembered and remain ingraved in our hearts! ???? May she rejoice in her new heavenly home. I'm Steven i am friends with Pam daughter Holly i wanna sent my condolence and hugs to the family even i did not know Pam very well. I know she was a great person and a great mom and a great grandma to her grand kids. Pam you will be missed a lot. And my prayers go out to her and her family doing this time. God bless you all.
She will always be Pammy to me as I used to babysit her when she was very little. Had to bend over to hold her hand when taking walks!! My heart goes out to all of the VanScoyoc families.
Donald and family - we were so sorry to hear of this. Although we did not know Pam well, we enjoyed seeing you two as a loving and fun couple. Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Keep your many memories tucked close to your heart for they will comfort you in the days ahead.

Don, we were so very sorry to hear this tragic news. While we didn't get to spend much time with Pam it was obvious how happy she made you from the first time we met her in Cedar Falls and that was enough. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
