Obituary

David D. Galen, 75 of Lake In The Hills, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.

He was born January 13, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Duane E. and Esther M. Williams. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1962 and served on the USS Forrestal. David was united in marriage to Patricia A. Ottow in Niles. The couple started their family in Chicago and in 1971 moved to Rolling Meadows where they bought their first home. In 1976, they moved to Hanover Park where they raised their family and in 2012, retired to Del Webb in Huntley. David worked as a truck driver for 50 years. He loved his family and golf, enjoyed cooking and was a member of the American Legion and Lifetime Fitness.

He is survived by his son, David C. (Sharon) Galen of Belvidere and his daughter, Lisa (Mark) Feltman of Lake In The Hills, his grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary and Joshua, his step-grandchildren, Patrick and Angela Sinople, his step-great-grandchildren, Landyn and Noah Sinople, his sister, Ginger (Jim) White of Green Lake, Wisconsin, his brother, Ronald Galen of Richmond, California and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia and his parents.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, June 5th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the David D. Galen Memorial Fund.
