Sam V. Geati, 79, of Huntley, died peacefully at his home June 26, 2018 after a 5 year battle with Amyloidosis.
He was born July 28, 1938, the son of Ann and Sam Geati. He graduated from Schurz High School in 1956 and later from Northern Illinois University in January of 1961 with a degree in physical education. On December 26, 1960 he married Judy Sanders. They raised their four children in Wheeling. Later Sam received his MBA degree at Lake Forest University. After leaving education, he worked in sales for many years. Sam was a proud active member of the Chicago Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. He has resided in Sun City Huntley since 2006 where he was active in the concert band, tennis and soft ball.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy, his children, Sharon (Mark) Peplowski, Mike Geati, Steve (Kristin) Geati, Rick (Dina Marie) Geati, and by his 8 grandchildren, Hunter, Jack, Nick, Sophia, Giuliana, Liliana, Giavanna, and Gianni.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 4-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 50 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
