Sandra J. Clausen, 61 of Algonquin, died peacefully, July 2, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 5, 2018 4to8 at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A second visitation will be on Saturday, July 7, from 9-11am with a service at 11am all at Reese Funeral Home 5341 Central Ave, Portage, IN. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Portage, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Cancer Treatment Center of America 2520 Elisha Ave, Zion, IL 60099.
Sandra was born July 6, 1956 in Hammond, Indiana the daughter of George and Dotty Cannon. She married Ed Clausen on November 6, 2000. Although Sandy worked tirelessly both in and out of the home her proudest achievement was raising a strong confident daughter. Her favorite past time was attending Morgan’s basketball games. Sandra was a fighter and battled her illness with great strength and courage. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and sister who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Ed, her daughter, Morgan, by her parents, George and Dotty Cannon, by her sister, Brenda (Don) Barringer, brothers, Danny (Lisa) Cannon, and Ron (Chris) Cannon. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-laws, Jim Clausen, Roger (Holly) Clausen, Peggy (Ronnie) Bastain, Kathy (Gary) Young, Mary (Tracy) Upton, Jennifer (Tim) Johnson, John (Penny) Clausen and Donna (Mark) Prouty.

So sorry for the loss. I have known her many years. I remember when she found out she was pregnant with Morgan she beamed. She was very strong and courageous. Sweet Sandy you will be missed and remembered with many friends and family.
I'm am so very saddened over Sandy passing. May the Good Lord give All peace and strength and courage to get through this very difficult time.

RIP sis. Until the family table is complete again....we will miss you always. For those of you reading these, we all struggle with our demons. I shot up out of bed the day after Sandy passed with the following on my heart. I know that it was Sandy's way of letting me know where she was, that she was okay, and for me not to be so hard on myself. I believe it sums up God's grace through Jesus perfectly. "It is not about where/how you start your journey, it is about where you are when your journey is over."
