Stuart L Smidl, 48, of Huntley, IL died peacefully August 9, 2018 with his family by his side.
Stuart was born August 9, 1970 in Chicago, the son of Ward and Edith Smidl. Stuart was a graduate of Fremd High School and attended Harper College. He worked as a data processor at DMC. After receiving his service dog, Krush, he became a member of the Board of Mid-America Service Dogs’ Foundation which connects people with disabilities with service dogs.
Stuart’s hobbies were mountain biking, fishing, and walking his dog Krush and visiting friends. Stuart built RC cars, boats and drones as well as train sets and slot cars.
Stuart was preceded in death by his father, Ward Smidl; and survived by his mother, Edith Smidl; Siblings Susan (Scott) Dickey, David (Krista) Smidl, Douglas (Alanna) Smidl, Sarah (Chad) Nevius; nieces/nephews: Jill (Shane), Thomas (Courtney), Kate, Libby, Ashley (Tony), Jennifer, Greg (Kim), Jackson, Jana; and his faithful service dog, Krush.
Visitation will be held Friday August 17th from 6:00-8:00pm at DeFiore Funeral & Cremation Service 10763 Dundee Road Huntley, IL 60142.
Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 18th at 9:00am followed by Celebration of Life at 10:00am at First United Methodist Church 123 North Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL 60067

Praying for the family during this challenging time. I’m sure Jesus had a big birthday cake waiting for him.
Rather than mourn Stuart's death, I choose to recall something about him that makes me smile. Everytime I see my Fremd Letterman jacket (and yes I still have mine) in my closet, I'll remeber the fact that Stuart wore his borther David's Letterman jacket. in fact, Stuart wore it until it was unwwearable and now no longer exists. Rest in peace Stuart. You will always make me smile.
