Joan Elizabeth Bakley (Kiley) was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 10, 2018 surrounded by her family and her beloved caregiver Lucy.
Joan was born on August 16, 1927 to Michael John Kiley and Gertrude Elizabeth Mercantile in Chicago, IL.
Joan married Kenneth P. Bakley “Timer” on October 2, 1948 in Huntley, IL. They were blessed with five children: Kenneth P. Bakley Jr., Kathleen P. Jensen (Carl Jensen, Sr.), Douglas C. Bakley, Cindy Jo Bakley (Randy Sikula), Bernice A. Bakley (Tim Roberson).
Joan began her childhood as a farm girl in Dundee later attending grammar school in Crystal Lake and finally graduating from Huntley High School in 1947. During her high school years she worked at the Elgin watch factory and later as a secretary at H. D. Catty Corp. in Huntley. At the age of 21 she married the love of her life Kenneth “Timer” Bakley and they worked side by side together at the family business Bakley Construction. After the passing of her husband in 1986 Joan continued her involvement in the family business until her passing. Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and friend to all who were blessed to be a part of her life.
Joan showered blessings and love to all who knew her. She created lasting memories though her travels with her husband and her family however she loved being home most of all. Her most valued treasure was having her family by her side to share stories and conversations. Joan will be remembered for her loving spirit, sharp mind and her beautiful smile.
Joan is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Ken III (Jennifer), Mathew, Carl Jr., (Katie), Michael, Brittany, T.J., Noah, and great grandchildren: Autumn, Violet, and Elijah and by her, dear friend, Luann, and caregivers Mavis and Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jake Kiley, Tom Kiley, Marty Kiley, Ed Fitzgerald, Bob Fitzgerald and grandson Ronald Reh and her husband Timer.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A private family funeral will be held, and burial will be in Huntley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church of Huntley.

We will truly miss Joan. Always looked forward to seeing her when ever we come home for a visit. Even though she was only my aunt through marriage she treated me as though I was a blood relative. She and Timer were the kindest people, and Darryl's favorite aunt and uncle. So happy we got a chance to see her last September. When ever we came to see her all it took was one call and whole family was there it was so much fun. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. We love all of, Darryl and Sherrie
