We were family friends and often got together!! We were baseball teammates . He was our catcher when we won the Ill. Babe Ruth State Championship in , I think 1960. When a hitter swung and missed, he would often show the hitter the ball.We often golfed together and he always won. He was a great father and husband and friend. I will dearly miss him!! ,

Jan, Denise, Diane, & Family, Our condolences to you all on the loss of Bill. I’ve known Bill since 1953. We were school mates, played on the same teams in Little League and Babe Ruth League Baseball, golfed together, went to see many White Sox games, and were best of friends. Bill was Best Man at our wedding in 1971. We cherished the past 12 years we’ve had with Bill & Jan since we moved back to Illinois and Del Webb’s Sun City from Maryland. May the Lord comfort you at this time of sorrow. Love Gary & Viki Egan

Baseball team mate, college room mates, best man, one of my best friends. Everybody up there is laughing right now...

Dick Westerberg 2019-01-14 13:28:44

One of my best friends EVER!! We were born a day apart in the same hospital so Bill was my longest friend ever. I was a day older and for years he would call me on my BD and call me an old man. My teammate and opponent in different sports. He was a great competitor. Our dads died only months apart when we were teenagers and we supported each other during those tough times. We laughed and cried together. I will deeply miss him. May God give Jan, the girls, and Heidi his love and peace during this difficult time. RIP my buddy!!

Bill was my brother-in-law for more than fifty years and although he was my only brother-in-law I am sure that if I had had several he would still have been my favorite. I met Bill when he was still in school at Bloomington Normal and dating my sister-in-law Janet. He was a better golfer than I was and I NEVER beat him in a golf match but he always took my money, or a drink with a smile. I have many treasured memories of times spent with Bill. My love to Janet, Denise, Diane and their children, and Heidi. May God protect Bill and his family, Joe

I was so sorry to hear about Bill’s passing. I remember his infectious laugh ringing across the BG Math/Science workroom. He made me laugh often and reminded me not to take myself so seriously. It was never dull when Bill was around because he always knew how to lighten things up. He will be deeply missed.

Hey Jan, Denise, Diane and Wurl family. I'm so sorry about Bill's passing. I am praying for you in this time of mourning (and celebration). I have such wonderful memories of Bill. He was a person in my life growing-up who always made me feel good about myself and my abilities. I am forever grateful for that. Unfortunately, I cannot join you today for the services due to a work trip in LA. But I will be there in spirit. Love you all.

I am so sorry to hear about Bill's passing. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Bill in Arizona. Great time and great memories for all of my friends that met him the first time. A wonderful man that was adored by many of us. Rest in peace Coach Wurl

Mary Negley (Ferguson) 2019-01-16 13:49:29

Many of my other math colleagues at BGHS taught me about teaching math, but Bill taught me how to have fun while doing it. He started each day at BGHS with laughs and energy, and taught all of us to enjoy teaching our students. He impacted both the staff and students in many ways. May he rest in peace, and continues to say, "Nothing I'd rather be doing."

John Kaltsas 2019-01-17 01:56:51

Had hoped to share from time to time our retirement lives in Tucson. So sorry that never happened! Bill was a good man. He brought many smiles to those in the Rolling Meadows HS counseling department. Jan, now that Bill is at peace, hope your life is blessed with family and many friends helping you create a new fulfilling life centered on your happiness.
