I have know Susie since the 4th grade. My memory of her is her beautiful ivory skin and how she was always so kind to me and everyone she met. We just emailed each other a couple months ago... I’m so sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful soul. May God Bless her

My condolences to the Opalka Family... I had just driven by the Opalka home last week & was reminiscing about her & wondering what she grew up to become... I have had the pleasure of meeting Susie way back when in D23 when she was enrolled in EDP before & after school. I had the pleasure of being her PE teacher when she was at Sullivan. She was always a wonderful student... I was happy to read that she had become a teacher! I'm sure she was one of the best! My condolences to her students & school family as well as her personal family! So saddened to learn of her passing. Rest in Peace dear Susie!

I had the pleasure of team teaching with Susie when she was living in Georgia. Such a wonderful, thoughtful person. She was a great Language Arts teacher and I remember she always did a "coffee house" day during her poetry unit. With her love of anything retro, she should have lived during the 40s and 50s. She will be missed! Much love, Jul

Ms.Opalka was my 6th grade teacher many years ago. Ms.Opalka was always happy and excited, there was never a dull a moment in her class. She made a huge impact in my life. My first day of middle was with her and I was so nervous but she easily made it feel like home. She drew me into poetry, encouraged me to write more. I will love her forever and everything she has done. I never encountered another like her and I will always remember her. Love you. Sending prayers to family.

I only knew Susie from Facebook. We always talked about meeting but we live several states apart. We would spend hours chatting online, and that developed into a deeper friendship where we called each other on the phone. We had so many values in common : religion, love of animals, both divorced, both sarcastic. I will miss Susie greatly, but know she will greet me with open arms one day in heaven.

I can't believe it will be almost 3 years since Susie passed away. Susie and I became friends when she taught in Georgia. She was an amazing Language Arts teacher and one of the kindest and sweetest people I have ever met. I was just thinking of Dyngus Day and Susie popped in my mind. I know she embraced her Polish heritage and she would share her Polish recipes with me on FB messenger when she moved. I will be remembering you Susie, especially on that day. Miss and love you!

I was search names of my daughter friends that she had lost track of they the years and was shock to come across Susie’s name. Susie and my daughter Lisa were inseparable growing as neighbors. Our yards backed up to each other. My deepest sympathy to the Opalka family. Pam Feld
