Louis Cacciatore

Obituary

Louis Cacciatore, 59, of Huntley, died suddenly on June 19, 2019.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 3:00 to 7:00pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Concerns of Police Survivors Illinois Chapter/ ILCOPSPO Box 304,Tampico, IL 61283
Lou served as a Police Officer for the Deerfield Police Department for 26 years beginning on March 19, 1984 and retiring effective May 5, 2010. Two of the numerous highlights of his career were the time he spent as an Evidence Technician with the Lake County Major Crime Task Force (LCMCTF) and his service as a Bicycle Patrol Officer, a passion he continued to enjoy after retirement. Lou’s “even-keeled” manner and dry witted sense of humor were enjoyed by all that worked with him during his years of dedicated service. After retiring Lou enjoyed time with family, fishing and biking. He was a devoted son, father, brother and uncle who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Rosalie Cacciatore, his children, Matthew, Joseph and Sara Cacciatore, by his sister, Cathy (John) Piwko and two nephews, Michael and Tommy. Lou is also survived by his girlfriend Sue of six years. He was preceded in death by his father, Angelo and by his grandparents.

Lou and I were in some of the same college classes, both wanting to become police officers. We became close friends and have stayed in touch over the years. I always knew if I was going to be coming back to Illinois I would have a welcome place to stay with Lou. My children always called him Uncle Lou and we have a lot of fond memories with Lou and his family. He has been a great friend for many years and will be missed. I am glad to have had him as a special friend.

I was so very sorry to hear about Lou’s passing. I worked with him for a short time at Target. After I left, we kept in touch and I became his tax preparer and advisor. I will miss seeing Lou and hearing about his latest mini-road trip to a general store with a good cup of coffee or a forest preserve. Lou was a great guy, an easy going soul, and a wonderful friend. My thoughts go out to his family & Sue during this difficult time.

Cathy, John, and Family, I am so very sorry that your beloved brother/in-law passed away. He had so much to look forward to and was young(at my age, anything south of 60 is young). I might have met him when he worked in Deerfield as I came from that area and still do some things there.

For over 35 years we shared a lot . We have laughed and cried together . I was his best man at his wedding , When I would go on business trips he would go for the ride and we would stop to fish where ever we saw lake. Lou , Sherri and I are heart broken and to Lous family you should be proud of this man , his integrity and kindness to others So sorry and sad
