Gordon Herman Janz was born September 3, 1936 in Elgin, Illinois. His parents were Herman and Anna Janz. He would meet his wife, Sally Mae Sinko while working at the Shell gas station on the south end of Elgin. They were married on July 13, 1968. He was the Dad to two daughters, Kim Janz and Stacy (Martin) Nilsen. One granddaughter, Allyson (Eric) Smalley. Two grand pups, Luna and Gracie.
He enjoyed life being surrounded by friends and family. Traveling, going out to dinner, sharing a meal at home, playing cards, doing puzzles.
He loved gardening, baking and cooking traditional German food favorites, raising livestock, raising standard poodles, building things (he built his own homes and helped with many family and friends homes), working on cars and trucks.
Gordy worked delivering fuel oil, owned and operated a gas station, snowplowing and was a local 150 operating engineer running a blacktop roller.
He adored his only granddaughter, Allyson and was so proud of her throughout life. When she was born, he got a sweatshirt printed with Ask Me About Allyson, I don’t think you had to ask him he could not wait to tell you.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Always remembered for being a kind and gentle man with a huge heart willing to help anyone with anything.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10am till 11am with a service at 11am all at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
