Obituary

Mary J. Frelk, 88 of Huntley, formerly of Kildeer, died peacefully on February 29, 2024.
Mary was born in Rockford on March 7, 1935, to parents Anthony and Angela (nee Lombardo) Scarpetta. She left home at age 16 with her sister Lena and moved to California. Following her graduation from high school, she joined the Air Force and proudly served her country. She then went to college to become a nurse. While working for the Chicago School District as a school nurse, she met and fell in love with Ronald Frelk who was working as a teacher, and the couple were married in 1973.
Together Mary and Ron loved to travel and explore new places. They both enjoyed cooking and hosted many holidays and dinner parties for their family and friends. They were especially fond of their pet Poodles, Max and Mickey.
Mary was very sincere and caring, as well as being a very determined and headstrong woman. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her brother, Paul (Carol) Scarpetta, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Ronald Frelk, and her siblings, Rose (Bob) Winquist, Martha (Benny) Cascio, Mary Scarpetta, Vito (Marie) Scarpetta, Lena (Dick) Winters, Angela (Vonnie) Scarpetta, Anthony Scarpetta, and Sam (Annemarie) Scarpetta.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 9 a.m. to time of mass 10 a.m. all at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
Entombment to follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
