Hans J. Pfeiffer, 93, of Huntley, died peacefully, surrounded by his children, on April 14, 2024.
Hans was born in Koenigsberg, Germany (former East Prussia) on January 14, 1931, to parents Reinhard and Edith Pfeiffer. He served in the United States Army Reserves while still in Germany before immigrating to the United States in 1954 and transferring to active duty. He spent the majority of his career as an engineering draftsman for the Chicago Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. He was an active member of the Chicago Region BMW club for many years, had a love for photography and spending time with his family. He was a caring and thoughtful man with a gentle spirit. He adored animals of all kinds and being outdoors. Hans will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Hans is survived by his children, Tim (Mary) Pfeiffer, Mark (Nicolletta) Pfeiffer, Julia (Richard) Ochal, Annemarie O’Connor, and Jennifer (James Legowski) Girardi, his grandchildren, Erika Pfeiffer, Mariah Pfeiffer, Ian (Amber) Pfeiffer, Jessica (Jordan) Mesa, Emma Pfeiffer, Rebecca Ochal, Sarah Ochal, Kyle O’Connor, Brandon (Jennifer) O’Connor, Kelly O’Connor, and Daniel Legowski, his great-grandchildren, Niko Mesa, and Faith, Brian and Everleigh O’Connor, his siblings, Dieter Pfeiffer, and Gisela (Tony) Sarracchia, and his niece, Ramona Treptow.
He was preceded in death by his brother Winfried Pfeiffer, and his beloved cat, Gonzo.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 9 a.m. to time of Funeral Mass 10 a.m. all at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
Burial to follow mass at St. Mary Cemetery.
