Obituary

Michael D’Angelo Jr. of Deer Park, IL, 92 passed away unexpectantly on April 5, 2024 in Hawaii with his family by his side.
Michael was born December 2, 1931 in Buffalo, New York, the youngest son of Michael Sr. and Ellen (Driscoll) D’Angelo. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict with a service career in radio broadcasting. On December 27, 1958, he married his wife Nancy Margaret Blair in Warren, PA. He graduated from Allegheny College and worked in radio stations on the east coast, for Kaiser Aluminum, and retired from Motorola. Mike and Nancy lived in many locations across the U.S., but one of his favorite places was Makaha, Hawaii. He loved the people, ocean, mountains, and the peacefulness the island offered. He enjoyed traveling and reading, and had a passion for history, especially WWII. Mike was very patriotic. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed sharing stories and had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nancy, his children Michael III (Kim), Lisa (Nick) Hager, and Marc (Laurie), his grandchildren Carly (Joe), Blair, Maggie, Melissa (Sam), Elizabeth (Matt), Kim (Jesse), Ben, and his great-grandchildren Joey, Claire, Jake, Colin, Penelope, Lyra, and Atlas, and 6 nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jack and Jane.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Rd, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike’s honor made be directed to JourneyCare Hospice of Barrington, Allegheny College, or WTTW PBS Chicago.
