William J. Stogsdill of Huntley, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 24th in Huntley, following a lengthy illness.
Bill was born May 25, 1928 in Salem, Indiana, the son of William and Ona (Chastain) Stogsdill. He came to Chicago at the age of 11. Mr. Stogsdill opened an industrial flooring business in 1963. Due to his dedication and business acumen, Mr. Stogsdill became the pre-eminent expert on acid proof brick flooring in the United States.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria, his son, William J. (Karen) Stogsdill; daughters, Suzan B. (Homer) Joy, Brae Hanson and Lisa Marie Berndt; his grandchildren, Morgan Stogsdill-Albrecht (Tim), William J. Stogsdill, Tracy O’Brien, Taryn O’Brien, Cory O'Brien and Kyle O’Brien. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Sowa and his grandson, Kelly O’Brien.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27th and from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Hampshire Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic, Lung Cancer Research, Rochester, Minnesota.
