Arthur Edwin Poyer, 81 of Sun City, Huntley, died peacefully, August 19, 2012 at Centegra Memorial Hospital in Woodstock with his family by his side.
A Graveside service will be held 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home 10763 Dundee Road- Huntley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois or the Mesothelioma Research Foundation.
Arthur was born June 24, 1931 the son of Edwin B. and Violet B. (Cooksley) Poyer. He married Dianne J. Rabschutz on December 28, 1950 in Chicago, Ill. Art worked for 45 years for the Contour Saws Company, retiring as a Plant Supervisior. Art enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping and later RVing. He was an avid Chicago Black Hawks and University of Florida Gator fan. He also enjoyed winters in Gainsville.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Dianne of Huntley; 5 children ,Arthur (Irene) (Lanna) Poyer, Carol Ann (Clifford) Guernsey, Glenn (Susan) Poyer, Todd (Mary) Poyer, Julie A. (Brian) Maki. He is survived by 14 grand children and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Lawrence (Carol) Poyer and by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and one sister.

Diane, Ever since he was diagnosed, we have been thinking and praying for Art...and for you, Julie and the rest of your wonderful family. I just wish there was more we could do to make it easier for all of you. He was a sweet, kind and fun-loving man. It was a pleasure to share those adorable grandkids with him and with you.
What a wonderful man. He was well loved and blessed with a beautiful, caring family. What more can anyone ask out of life but to have family and friends love and cherish you We are thinking about all of you and may you find comfort in the days and years ahead.
