Lawrence E. McMahon, 82 of Huntley, died peacefully, August 31, 2018
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 4-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am at the funeral home.
Lawrence was born January 14, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of James and Elizabeth McMahon. He served in the United States Army, in Germany. He married Margaret Donoghue on September 25, 1960. He worked for 35 years at Commonwealth Edison and retired as a Claims Department Manager. In his post retirement years, he was a devoted teacher of developmentally challenged adults, at Clearbrook in Rolling Meadows, and a favorite bus driver for Huntley School District 158. He was an avid runner and athlete and ran several marathons. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret McMahon, children, Patrick (Karen) McMahon and Kathryn (Laura) McMahon-Reyes and by his grandchildren, Ryan, Evan, Matthew and Megan. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, James and Daniel.
