Harry P. Pontarelli, Jr., 80 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 28, 2012 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin following a short illness.
He was born October 30, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Harry P. and Maria (Pontarelli) Pontarelli Sr., He was raised and educated in Chicago and on November 5, 1953 was united in marriage to Patricia J. McPhee. The couple made their home in Chicago and later Mount Prospect. He worked for many years at Pontarelli Construction, retiring in 1994. In 2001 the couple moved to Sun City in Huntley. Harry loved his family, they always came first. He was a hard worker and talented in many ways, there wasn’t a project that he couldn’t accomplish. He enjoyed the outdoors and animals.
He is survived by his wife, Pat of Sun City - Huntley, his daughters, Susan Pontarelli of Des Plaines, Paula (Robert) King of Huntley, his grandchildren, Nicholas (Kellie) Miller & Angela Miller, his great-grandchildren, Nicole & Keegan, his sisters, Lucy (George) Kouba of Bartlett, Olympia Savaglio of Elmwood Park, his sister-in-law, Norine Pontarelli of Crystal Lake, also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Dominic and his brother-in-law, Sam Savaglio.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 30th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Huntley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Retintis Pigmentos Foundation.
