Harold M. “Butch” Poling, 70 of Sycamore died suddenly on November 29, 2018
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 10:00am until 1:00pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin.
Harold was born June 27, 1948 in Elgin, the son of Robert and Virginia Poling. Harold owned and operated Area Door Service of Elgin. He was an outdoorsman, avid fisherman and hunter. He was a farmer at heart and was a collector of antique tractors. Butch spent many weekends working on his dream farmland in Antigo, Wisconsin. He was a devoted father and grandfather and was never without his beloved dog.
He is survived by his children, Aaron (Shelly) Poling, Amanda (Jeremy) Row, Sarah (Craig) Tucker, Crystal (Steve) Schliem, by his grandchildren, Aaron, Jr., Sydney, Codey, Makaila, Sam, and Allie and by two step grandsons, Alex and Zach, great granddaughter, Saige. He is survived by his mother, Virginia (Jim) Perry, his siblings, Skip Poling, Roxanna (Bill) Lauderdale and Dawn Zappitelli. He is survived by his significant other, Lora Johansen and best friend, Hans Sjurseth. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

So sorry for your loss, he will be greatly missed up north here by all his friends and neighbors. I had nothing but respect for him, and my father (Conrad) considered him a very dear friend. RIP Butch.

Rest in peace. I remember how he loved the dog Shep and 5 years after I gave him Shep he came to my house looking for him. Maybe he found him now.
