Obituary

Nancy Jean Palcer, 58 of Hampshire, passed away at Delnor Hospital in Geneva on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
She was born June 24, 1954 in Melrose Park, Illinois, the daughter of Jack and Lois (Smith) Kartheiser. Nancy was raised and educated in Broadview and Winfield, attending St. John’s Grade School and graduating from St. Francis High School in 1972. She was united in marriage to Jeffrey L. Palcer on August 30, 1975 in Winfield. The couple lived in Hawaii while Jeff was in the service then returned to Carol Stream, Glendale Heights and in 1985moved to Hampshire. Nancy had worked as a sales associate for JC Penney, retiring in 2006. She was very active At St. Charles Borromeo School while her children were in school and attended most all of their sporting activities. She was very interested in crafts, drawing, doing cross stitch and crocheting, she enjoyed baking and researching genealogy, but most important to her was being a loving, wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff of Hampshire, her children, Brian (Amber) Palcer of Battlement Mesa, Colorado, Abby Palcer of Schaumburg, Carolyn (Jason Karns) Palcer of Elgin, & Katlyn (Joe) Schwab of Pingree Grove, her grandchildren, Andrew & Tyler, her mother, Lois Kartheiser of Hampshire, her siblings, Mary (Joe) Jedlovec of Warrenville, John Kartheiser & William (Peggy) Kartheiser both of Hampshire, Susie (Rick) Sandberg of Oswego, Diane (Kevin) Keeney of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Tommy Kartheiser of Littleton, Colorado, Joany (Paul) Shankle of West Chicago, Patty Zeyen of Batavia and Teresa (Joe) Smagacz of West Chicago. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack and her granddaughters, Jordyn & Audrey.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
