John Frank Lucchetti, age 82, of Hampshire, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday evening, December 22, after battling prostate cancer with his loving family by his side. His beloved wife, Katherine “Kay” Lucchetti, passed away exactly 6 months before John on June 22, 2018.
John was born October 14, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. His father Frank was an Italian immigrant and his mother Virginia was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. John worked as a pipefitter throughout his life for Pipefitters Union Local 597, working multiple jobs to provide for his family. He retired from the union in 2000 but kept busy baling hay, buying and selling tools and equipment, and completing metal fabrication jobs for his friends and neighbors.
John loved to be surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories and making people laugh. He lived on 6 acres with his wife for the latter part of his life, taking care of their land and helping her harvest their impressive garden. He enjoyed making spicy vegetable juice in the summer to drink throughout the year, as well as attending auctions. He loved fishing and hunting.
John is loved, remembered and celebrated by his children, Steven Lucchetti, Donald (Teri) Lucchetti, Susan (Michael) Abbott, Dianne Lucchetti, and Richard Lucchetti; his grandchildren, Tonya, Scott, Kenneth, Daniel, Andrea, Kathleen, Allison, Nicole, Amanda, Nina, Frank, and Kortney; and great-grandchildren, Alexander, Aric, Vincent, Kane, Duke, Mia, Brody, Kali, John, Leonardo, and Aria; and many other family members and friends.
In keeping with John's wishes, there will not be any funeral services. Donations in his honor may be made to The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.

I am lost for words, my heart hurts deeply. How I loved your mom and dads place. Those beautiful blue spruces, every time I see one I think of the driveway line with these magnificent trees. His beautiful vegetable garden, yummy beets and the biggest celery I've ever seen. Yes this man enjoyed his life, his wife and his family. God be with at this time bringing comfort and peace. Thinking of all of you.
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
