Obituary

September 20, 1934 – March 27, 2019
Sylvia M. Chavez, 84 of Huntley, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2019.
Sylvia was born September 20, 1934 in Oak Park, Illinois the daughter of Leo and Mildred Norman. On January 26, 1952 she married Murel Chavez. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Above all else, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren sharing in their passions.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her husband. Left to honor Sylvia and remember her love are her three daughters, Donna (Greg) Gang, Diane (Frank) Miceli, and Cynthia (Mark) Cheatham. Her grandchildren Ginamarie Bickley, Nicole Szmurlo, Brian Savoia and Frank Miceli. “Gran” to five great grandchildren. Also, beloved sister Nancy Hart, cousins and friends. She will be remembered for her kind heart, sense of wonder and fun-loving way.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 3-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-107963 Dundee Road, Huntley. Funeral services will be on Friday, April 5, 2019 11:00am at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sylvia’s name to American Neurological Association.
