Martha “Marti” A. Gielow, 76 of Huntley, died peacefully, August 31, 2019 with her family by her side.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at DeFiore Funeral Home -10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am at St. Mary Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, with visitation at Church from 9:00am -10:00am. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Huntley.
Martha was born December 16, 1942 in Mattoon, Illinois the daughter of Albert and Lucille Bullock. On February 29, 1964 she married Howard Gielow. Marti taught in the Rockford Diocese for over 25 years. She was a 3rd Carmelite. Marti volunteered in many different ministries at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Mary Church and at St. Hubert’s Church. She was active in the SEARCH program for young adults, marriage preparation, religious education and funeral luncheon ministry just to name a few. Marti was devoted to our Lord and shared her faith with everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Gielow, her children, Marcie (Scott) Girolamo, Kyle (Jeni) Gielow and Eric (Kim) Gielow, her grandchildren, Tara, Jaclyn, Courtney, Victoria, Scotty, Murphy and Ivy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Kenny and sisters, Virginia and Jean .

Dear Howie and Family, My heart breaks for you, though I know Marti is at peace and in the loving arms of Jesus. All mortals must cope but thankfully because of your strong faith and personal relationship with Jesus, Howie, you will be well and continue on for your kids and grandkids. God Bless!
Dear Howie, Marcie, Kyle and Eric, Please accept my sincerest sympathy on the death of Marcie, my dear friend, sister in Christ and Cursillo and fellow Third Order Carmelite. My heart is broken as are your hearts. I offered all my pain so hers would be lessened. I am going to try as hard as I can to be at the wake and funeral and I pray I will be able to drive that far during this time. Dear Howie and family: I have been praying for Marti since I heard of her illness. She deserves a high seat in God's heaven. Frank and I enjoyed going to a Cursillo Conference with you both years ago and spending time with you. God loves you and holds you close to him. Now Marti and Frank are together in Heaven. God bless!

What a beautiful angel heaven has received! My condolences to all the family and close friends who lost this wonderful, joyful, loving, Christ-filled woman. She was certainly a bright light in this world and she will be missed by so many.
