Richard Edgar Quinn Sr., of Huntley, died peacefully, Tuesday morning, October 2, 2012 at the home of his son with his family by his side.
Richard was born April 13, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Francis E. and Esther (Burnett) Quinn.? He served in the United States Air Force.? He married Dolores A. Bailey on September 3, 1960.? He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of local union # 150.? Richard was a member of St. Mary Church and was a Knight of Columbus, a member of the Sun City Irish Club and was a charter member of the Twin Lakes Irish Club.
He is survived by his children; Patrick Quinn, Jean Conway, Denise (Donald) Palisaitis, Richard (Debra) Quinn and Kelly (Jeff) Szewczuk.? He was the proud grandfather of Annie, Diana, Allyson, Joey, Moey, Bobby, Phillip, Emilie, Max, Maddy, Sean & Bailey, and also his great grandchildren, Kaylie, Scott, Esme, Jim and Zoey.? He is also survived by his girlfriend, Mary Therese Hansen and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dolores, his son-in-law, Jack and by his eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and from 9:30? until the time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.? In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Unity Hospice, 1201 S. 7th Street, Rochelle, IL 61068

Rich was a wonderful man who turned into family because of his love for my mother-in-law, Mary Hanson. He was thoughtful and caring and just plain fun to be with. He will truly be missed by our whole family. My daughter, Alyssa, is away at college but has told me how much she will miss him too!

Even to a casual observer, it was clear that Rich and my mother, Mary Kelly-Hanson, adored each other. The love, kindness and respect he showed her throughout their time together is a testament to the kind of man Rich was. With deepest sympathies, our thoughts and prayers are with the Quinn Family and everyone who had the good fortune to have known this wonderful man.
