Antonio “Tony” Jundos, 75, of Lake in the Hills, died peacefully, December 10, 2019, with his family by his side.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 4-8pm with prayers and remembrances at 6 pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21st at 11:00am with visitation at 10 am at St. Mary Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be at Huntley Cemetery.
Antonio was born May 17, 1944 in the Philippines the son of Roberto and Rebecca Jundos. His grandfather, Enrique Jundos, was whom he was closest and helped shape him to become the person he was. On January 11, 1968, he married his beloved Rosario Castañeda. He always reflected on how fortunate he was that she married him. They were inseparable throughout their 50 years of marriage. Together, they found their greatest joy in seeing their children succeed and their grandchildren grow up and flourish.
Tony worked as a chemical engineer in Morris, IL and in Omaha, NE. Through his work, he was able to travel around the country and the world but would always be available for his family. Later in life, he and Rose – together with family – owned and operated an oil and lube side business. He was a woodworker and craftsman and was known for his beautiful doll houses, mangers and mailboxes. Antonio was an avid die-hard Chicago Sports fan - Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks and especially the Chicago Cubs. He was proud to have lived long enough to see the Cubs win a World Series.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Elaine (Shawn) Teter, and Roger (Jenny) Jundos and by his beloved grandchildren, Jack, Journey and Joselyn; his sisters, Rosemary Mendoza and Enriqueta Abdurahim; his brother Roberto Jundos, Jr. and their spouses and families. He is also survived by the many cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews who were very much a part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, his parents and his wife, Rosario.
