Kathy M. Johnson, 53 of Algonquin, formerly of Elk Grove Village, died November 10, 2012 at her home with her family by her side.
A visitation for Kathy will be held Friday, from 3:00 to 8:00pm at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A memorial service will be held 4:00pm, Sunday at Light of Christ Lutheran Church-100 Hanson Road, Algonquin, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the “Kathy Johnson Medical Fund” donations may be made at any BMO Harris Bank. Please note account number ending in 1904, or could be mailed to BMO Harris-225 S. Randall Road, Algonquin, IL 6010.2 Any financial assistance would be a tremendous help to the family.
Kathy was born January 24, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Stephen and Marg (Eidsvoog) Schwellenbach. She married Larry Johnson on July 11, 1993. Kathy worked as a Leadership Academy Coordinator for Sear Corporate Headquarters. Kathy returned to college and earned a BA from Roosevelt University. She was a member of Light of Christ Lutheran Church and headed up the Altar Care team. For many years she played and coached softball both in Elk Grove and Algonquin. Kathy was an amazing wife and mother she lived life to the fullest every day. Kathy’s spirit and love for others will live on forever.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Johnson and her daughter, Kirsten Johnson and step daughter, Kate Johnson, she is survived by her mother, Marg Schwellenbach, her brothers, Steve (Jan) Schwellenbach, Dan (Debbie) Schwellenbach, Joe (Judy) Schwellenbach, her sisters, Mary (Gerry) Galloway, and Pam Schwellenbach, brother-in-law, Robert Johnson, and by her nieces and nephews, Jackie and Tracy Schwellenbach, Ryan and Matthew Schwellenbach, Katie, Gina, Michael Schwellenbach, Jason and Tanya Galloway.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Kathy was the sweetest person & I will miss her smiling face at work. You are all in my thoughts & prayers.
Kathy was one of the nicest, caring people I have ever met. She was so easy to talk to about anything. I had the pleasure of working with Kathy on several projects. I will miss seeing her and her smiling face. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
Grace, humility and a gentleness of spirit were traits that made Kathy endearing. We all hold a special place in our hearts for her and send our sympathy to you and your family on her loss.
We were shocked to hear about Kathy. Seems like we just saw her. Will keep you and Kristen in our prayers. She was such a sweet person.
