Michael David DiFucci, of Lake in the Hills, IL passed away on March 31, 2020. He departed this life at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born on May 9, 1967 in Troy, New York to the late John and Diane (nee Writer) DiFucci. He was a kind and devoted husband and father who was well liked by everyone who met him. Michael could brighten any room with his amazing smile, charm, and sense of humor. He loved to spend time with his family and was an avid sports fan. His memory will be cherished by all those whose lives he touched, as he was simply a good person.
Michael is survived by his wife Sara (nee Graves) DiFucci, daughter Amanda, son Jake, and siblings, John DiFucci, Mary Kay Avellino, and Paul (Justina) DiFucci, and many nieces, nephews, and close cousins.
The family would like to express their gratitude to his oncology team at UofC who continued to fight with Michael to the end. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. I had the incredible privilege of having Fooch as a friend, a teammate, and classmate in Mechanicville. He had an infectious smile and sense of humor that made him such a presence wherever he was. He was an all around great guy and will be deeply missed.

When I heard the news it was just too hard to believe. A life taken too soon. Mike was a classmate of mine at Mechanicville High School. There was never a dull moment when he was around. From his infectious smile to his joking personality, I always remember him as a truly happy person. May God Bless all of you during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to Sara, Amanda, & Jake. I worked with Mike at Sears for a number of years. His warmth and sense of humor drew people to him. Drew me to him. We talked about our kids... he loved you both so much it brought him to tears at least once. He was a good friend to me... telling me gently that I needed to "take a vacation"... and he was right... multiple times :). I will miss him dearly.
Dear Sara, Today I found out a friend and colleague passed away. My heart hurts for you and your family. Mike was an amazing man. He loved you and the children so much. I met him when I was moved to his floor at Sears/Kmart. He was so friendly and genuine. He talked about Amanda. He was so proud of her. When she sang in Beauty and the Beast he was so amazed that she could not order food in a restaurant but can get up in front of an audience and sing like an angel. He showed me the video. She was awesome. He was also proud of Jake and how well he was doing. And you were the love of his life. He told me how he met you and what really amazed me is he remembered exactly what you were wearing. He said "It was love at first sight." He told me you were married at Disney. And you would go almost every year. He helped me with pointers on my trip to Disney with my husband and his sisters' 5 kids. Disney would not have been as good without his suggestions. I talked to Mike a few times on LinkedIn but I did not go on LinkedIn in a few years. Since so many people were let go from Sears (including myself) I wanted to contact some old friends. Mike is one but I could not find him. Then I google Mike and was shocked. A friend told me he had stomach cancer but had surgery and was getting better. He also said Mike did not want anyone to know. He never liked attention. I am so sorry for your loss but I hope it brings you pleasure to know how much you husband loved you and his children. God bless you and your family.
