Edward was born in Chicago on September 16, 1929, to parents Martin and Margaret (nee Lynch) Shanahan.
Edward worked as an electrician in Union 134 and was an avid athlete (hitting the gym 3 times a week for 50 years!), football fan and a devoted father to his 6 kids. Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (nee Chemlick) Shanahan, and his siblings, Martin, Loretta, Buddy, Marie, Johnny, Cathy, and Tommy.

I met Ed over 13 years ago in Englewood FL and we hit it off immediately. He loved that I had a background and interest in football so we spent hours talking about it over the years. He was such a genuine guy and in every single conversation that we had he asked about my family and how they were doing. He told me all about his family too and I could feel the love and the amount of pride he had for his family. I enjoyed the time I was able to spend with him and will miss him greatly. I know he is in a better place but I also know that he will leave a void in the hearts of his family and friends.
