Salvatore M. Battaglia, 86, of Algonquin, formerly of Schaumburg, died on August 3, 2020.
Salvatore was born in Chicago on July 21, 1934 to parents Joseph and Ann (nee Piscotti) Battaglia. Salvatore was a proud veteran of the United States Army. On May 16, 1959, Salvatore married Theresa DeSimone and together they raised five children. Family meant everything to him, and he loved to travel and visit with the people he cared about. His family remembers him as a shy man, but once he got to know you he opened up and loved to share his stories. He could often be found sitting in his favorite chair watching game shows or playing poker with his neighbors.
Salvatore is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa Battaglia, his children, Michael (Gail) Battaglia, Mark Battaglia, Lisa (Keith) Cauldren, and Dina (Dave) Miller, his grandchildren, Carlie (Curtis), Ryan (Katelyn), Jonathan, Jordan, Nicole, Kyle, Hailey, and Joey, his great-granddaughter, Ava Cathy, his son-in-law, Gregg Rodway, his brother, Michael Battaglia, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Cathy Rodway.
The family will be celebrating Salvatore’s life with a Memorial Mass on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church - 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
