Judith C. Gallagher, 61 of Union, died peacefully, August 11th , 2020
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 8:30-10:30 with a service held at 10:30am all at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be private at Huntley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Informed Choices or McHenry County 4H Youth Foundation.
Judith “Judy” was born October 2, 1958 in Chicago, the daughter of Edward and Viola Evertsen. On August 5, 1978 she married Robert J. Gallagher. She attended Northern Illinois University, Harper College, and later Charis Bible College. For 17 years she was a homeschool educator for all three of her children, it was one of her greatest joys to teach them about God and instill in them a love for learning. Judy was an active and beloved member of the University of Illinois extension Master Gardener program. Judy also volunteered at Marengo First Assembly, Huntley Harvesters, Crystal Clovers 4-H club, McHenry County 4-H Youth Foundation, 4-H Ambassadors and many more. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Judy’s bubbly personality, kindness, and generosity shined so bright that it would rub off on everyone she met. Judy poured truth and integrity from her heart with the marvelous stories she told. She captivated just about any audience with her excitement and enthusiasm. She had a story to go with every situation; from gardening, homeschooling, marriage, parenting, or where to find the best organic food. Judy did not let a lack of experience prevent her from doing anything. If she did not know how, she would learn. “Can’t” was not in Judy’s vocabulary; she would always say “For with God nothing shall be impossible”-Luke 1:37.
Judy may have left this earth, but she is not forgotten. Her laughter and loving spirit holds us tight as we continually feel her love.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Gallagher, her children, John, Laura and Anna Gallagher by her siblings Karen Evertsen and Edward (Debbie) Evertsen and by sister-in-laws, Bonnie and Janet Evertsen. Additionally, 17 Nieces and Nephews and many many great-nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her siblings, Kathy (Wayne) Drehs, Richard and Larry Evertsen.

To be absent from the body is to be present with our Lord. I am indebted to you Judy. You are the reason that I made it into Zion. God used you in such a powerful way in my life. I tried to contact you and share the radical nearly overnight miracle, but it wasn't meant to be. We knew one another for such a short time, but one day in eternity we will catch up. Agape my precious, beautiful sister!
To the Gallagher Family. I cried when I heard. Judy was so full of life and cared deeply for her family and friends. I love listening and dialoging with her. She left this life a bit early, but she lived well and left a wonderful legacy. May God grant you peace and comfort.

Laura, my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to your mother's passing. While I never had the opportunity to meet her, the way people describe her, I can very much see the same virtues in you as well. Remember all of the pleasant times you've had together, and work to carry on her legacy. She's in the Lord's hands now.
