Stephen M. Didier 49, of McHenry formerly of Chicago, passed away at Centegra Hospital in McHenry following a lengthy illness.
Stephen was born February 6, 1963 in Chicago, the son of Leander and Roberta (Gora) Didier. He grew up in Palatine and graduated from Palatine High School and later attended Michigan State University. He worked as a Visual Merchandising Manager for Marshall Fields on State Street in Chicago for many years, he loved his job. Growing up he had been active on the swimming team, theatre, singing and excelled in band. He loved Chicago, enjoyed life and in the past few years used his creativity to produce cards which he sold through various venues. As his illness progressed he faced it bravely, with courage and rarely complained.
He is survived by his parents, Leander & Roberta Didier of Huntley, his sister, Suzanne (John) Young of Greenfield, Wisconsin, his brother, David (Brittany) Didier of Cary, Illinois, his nieces, Mary Young & Reyna Cameron and his nephew, Jacob Cameron.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until a 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Friday, January 25th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Inurnment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery at a later date. I am deeply saddened by his passing--please know that he was greatly loved and admired by all of us lucky enough to work with him. Steves boundless creativity brought joy to Chicagoans and visitors alike as he executed windows for Marshall Fields flagship store--season after season, year after year. His enthusiasm for pushing boundaries of traditional window display resulted in unfailingly clever, entertaining artistry.
My condolences to the Didier family . Steve was truly o e of a kind. I had the pleasure of working with him for a number of years on windows for Marshall Fields store .Steves window displays seemed to defy gravity and they mostly stayed up Truly a creative force who will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the Didier family for your loss. I also had the honor of being one of Steve's colleagues at Marshall Field's State Street. He was such a talented, creative, over-the-top thinker - a true artist. He taught me many things in our shared craft. We will miss him.
My most sincere condolences to the Didier family and friends of Steve. I have so many fond memories of Steve from Palatine High School, especially working on performances. He had such a wonderful energy and fantastic sense of humor.
I was so saddened to have just received a phone call from a St. Thomas parishioner who informed me of Steve's passing. I so enjoyed my high school friendship with Steve and cherish all the fun times we had! He was a special person who always brought fun and laughs to our crazy high school antics-like the Rocky Horror Picture Show outings! My thoughts and prayers are with all of his loved ones.
We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Steve. We always enjoyed working with him and getting to know him. He always brought an ubelievable attitdue and enthusiasm everytime he was here. I am so very sorry. I was a 1979 graduate from PTHS. I was in the band and worked with Steve in some of the variety shows and musicals. He was an amazing musician and I recall his clarinet solos being outstanding. I always admired his quick wit and creative ideas. I was not aware of his illness and I am truly sorry for your loss.
My deepest condolences to the Dider family.Year's after working with Steve I am still thinking about him. It beings me such sadness to discover now that he passed, and that he may have had pain, however I am quite sure he showed strength and encouragement to others. I was lucky enough to work beside him and learn from his talents. He took me under his wing through the holiday season many years ago at Marshal Fields. What a pleasure it was to know him for such a brief time Please know that if he had this effect on .me, imagine how he graced everyone he knew.
