Josephine “Jo” Mazurkiewicz, 72, of Marengo, died on January 2, 2021.
Jo was born in Germany on March 29, 1948 to parents Thaddeus and Ruth (nee Mandel) Duciewicz. While attending a wedding, Jo caught the eye of Chester Mazurkiewicz and it was love at first sight! They married on June 6, 1970 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past year.
Jo was a shining example to her family of what a strong woman should look like. She was strong willed, affectionate, thoughtful, and kind. She had the uncanny ability to make you feel welcomed and loved. Her family was her whole world, and she was always ready to go on an adventure with her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Alice, I am truly sorry for the unexpected & abrupt loss of your sister. There is little that can be said or done to console at a time like this. Just know you are not alone with your grief. It is shared by those who care for you. I will reach out to you, in the weeks to come, hope you will let me extend myself to you, if there is any way I can be of help. Meantime, please accept my deepest sympathies, both to you & your family. Virginia
Jo will definitely be missed. It was a wonderful pleasure to work with her at Blu Sky Creative. Whenever she was working in the office, her warm smile was there to greet all of us as we walked in. Her love for bowing and traveling and her family was very evident in the conversations we had. She was always a kind to myself and my 2 young boys who would spend time with us at the office during summer breaks. My prayers and condolences to Chester and the rest of Jo’s family.

Dear Chester and family, It was great sadness that I read of Jo's passing and the fading of yet another bright light during these dark times. She was a valued member of the McHenry County Historical Society's "family" and had a passion for local history. We will miss her sense of humor, willingness to pitch in and easy going nature.
