He was my best childhood friend along with his brothers Tom and Harry. His family treated me as one of theirs and Tom called me a fourth Hoferle. While Mary and I have been away from the Chicago area since 1964, we stayed in touch and often when we came back to visit family in the Chicago we were able to have lunch with Dick , Terry, Harry and Barb. One visit to the Chicago area Tom and I drove through the old neighborhood and the hardware store that was on Lincoln Av. Loosing Dick breaks my heart and he will be missed. Still we have fond memories from playing ball, going Christmas shopping, double dates, fraternity activities, and so on. Dick was a great friend. The best. And his family was very generous in many ways. Love you Dick, Bob and Mary

I am saddened by the Passing of Dick. I had the honor of serving with him on the Algonquin Planning and Zoning Committee. He was a champion for the community and a true advocate for the residents of Algonquin. The village has lost a tremendous asset and we will miss the insight and guidance he provided as a commissioner. Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Condolences to Terry and the entire Hoferle family at the loss of Dick. He was a great guy. I first remember him from our fraternity days at DePaul. He always had a kind word for a pledge and was considerate thereafter. It is obvious he had a compassionate heart for others as demonstrated by his awareness for those in need by his founding of the Food Pantry amongst other worthwhile services. May he enjoy eternal rest with our Lord and his eternal family in Heaven.

I am very sorry to hear the passing of Dick Hoferle. He was a good steward for the Village of Algonquin and many folks like myself and others had learned from his leadership and general awareness of what this village needed moving forward.
