Maria Isaura Garza, 92, died peacefully on June 2, 2021, at Alden-Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates.
Maria was born in New Braunfels, Texas on February 22, 1929, to parents Matias and Jocabel (nee Salinas) Anaya. She married Guadalupe Garza on September 25, 1954, and they were happily married for 54 years until his death on October 17, 2008. Maria was devoted to her family. She was an excellent storyteller and always had a new story to share with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Maria was very lively and loved to dance to Tejano music. She loved to watch game shows and her favorites were Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. She loved her lottery tickets and could often be found thrift shopping. Maria’s strong and independent personality touched everyone she met, and she will be greatly missed.
Maria is survived by her children, Guadalupe (Joël) Peters, Roberto (Christi) Garza, Fernando Garza, Ana Luiza Garza, her grandchildren, Christopher-Joël, Benjamin, Sophia, Jonathon, Amanda, Joshua “Chaelin”, Lorenzo, Angelo, Matthew, and Mia, her great-grandchildren, Nolan, Nicholas, and Chloe, her brother, Jose Matias (Rosemary) Anaya, and many family members in Texas.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guadalupe Garza, and her siblings, Catarino Madrigal, Ignacia (Enrique) Rocha, and Antonia (Manuel) Gaona.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Mass will be Monday, June 7, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, Interment at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery to follow mass.

Our beloved aunt Isadra will be dearly missed by Corpus Christ, Texas family. She was the sweetest person anyone could have as a sister, aunt, great aunt, friend.
