Obituary

Elaine “Gail” Marion Grosskurth, 85, died peacefully on December 14, 2020.
Gail was born on November 3, 1935 in Chicago to parents Frank and Helga (nee Christiansen) Hanson.

Anyone she met she made it known, her preference was just Gail. Whether known as Mom, Grandma, Aunt Gail or just Gail, she touched a lot of people throughout her busy life. She took care of many, beginning as a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout Leader, then caring for both her Mother and Mother In-law. She did everything from paying bills, to getting them to appointments and grocery shopping for years. As a two time Cancer survivor she still managed to help run a business and raise a family. Later in life she became Treasurer for the local Breast Cancer Annual Fundraiser. She was an active participant and friend to her neighbors making sure many were able to get to their appointments and shopping; including organizing a breakfast group for her neighbors. She was an active participant in numerous clubs, including knitting, ceramics, bunco and bocce. So many people were able to enjoy her friendship and love and she will be missed for her kindness and generosity.

She loved her family and was a proud Grandmother to 10 Grandchildren and Great Grandmother to 7 Great Grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her attention, love and caring to everyone she touched.

Gail is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Diane) Marion, Lisa (Roy) Kauffman, and David (Janet) Marion, her grandchildren, Brad, Corrine, Alex, Taylor, Rebecca, Samuel, Carol, Sarah, Grace, and Olivia, her great-grandchildren, Elliott, Troy, Grant, Hadley, McKenna, Ben and Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald L. Marion, on December 16, 1991, and her second husband, Gerald E. “Gerry” Grosskurth, on October 15, 2013
Funeral will be Saturday, June 19, 2021 at First Congregational Church of Huntley, 11628 E, Main St, Huntley, at 11:00 a.m. inurnment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Huntley.

There are places in the heart reserved especially for those most special to us. Your mother is one if those people who will be remembered today and always. She was one of my treasured loved ones and sister-in-law. I have fond memories of the times we spent together over the years! I am sending my deepest sympathy to her precious loved ones.
