Obituary

Sun City, Huntley, resident Carolyn Ann Jones passed away June 13, 2021 after a protracted illness. Though a long-time Midwesterner, Carolyn cherished her East coast roots. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, into a family of doctors and nurses, Carolyn ventured to Chicago for advanced studies in clinical psychology and decided to remain in the heartland. After a career with the State of Illinois Public Health Dept. and later with a major public accounting firm, Carolyn and husband Don retreated to the seclusion of central Minnesota. But Illinois soon lured them back, and they settled in Aurora, centrally located to their five children and eight grandchildren.

Never one to be idle for long, Carolyn accepted the position of office manager at Coldwell Banker Realty Co. in Aurora, and after five years she joined the staff of the Kane County Bar Association in St. Charles as Membership & Continuing Legal Education Coordinator, finally retiring in 2014. The following year she and Don moved to Del Webb’s Sun City in Huntley IL where both have been active in neighborhood and community affairs.

Besides her grandchildren, Carolyn’s great loves were travel, flower gardening, crocheting and reading. A private memorial service is being planned for the near future.
