John Pausche

Obituary

John W. Pausche, 89, of Huntley, formerly of Norridge, died on June 13, 2021.
John was born on June 8, 1932, in Chicago to parents John and Stephanie (nee Krofel) Pausche. He met Genevieve Dutkiewicz at a dance in 1951 and both were smitten! After John served his country in the Army, the pair married on January 14, 1956 and treasured their years together. John loved his family and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was lovingly known as “Goppy” and “Papa” to his grandchildren in whom he took such pride and joy. Every 4th of July the entire family gathered at the family cabin at the Pike Lake Chain in Wisconsin. John was the life of the party. You were sure to hear his voice booming across the neighborhood at every block party. For many years, John and Genevieve hosted a Halloween party enjoyed by their children and grandchildren, with everyone in costume and games planned by John, ending with a piñata. John was a hard worker and an entrepreneur. He worked for Motorola for more than 20 years, and during that time was credited with several patents. He later went on to start his own company. He was a true inspiration to his children and grandchildren. He was passionate about classic cars and was a member of CAATS (Centerville Antique Auto Touring Society) and eventually owned his dream car, a Matador Red 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. John was a strong, meticulous, and loving man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Genevieve Pausche, his children, Debbie (Joe) Ferrari, John (Connie) Pausche, Linda (Brian) O’Dea, his grandchildren, Laura, Joey (Allie), Katie, Kelsey, Conor, and Matt, and his great-grandchild, Kade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Marilyn (Roger) Tracy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name can be made to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be Monday, June 28, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to time of prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.

Please accept my condolences to your family. I knew John as my grandfather, Fred Perepetsky’s neighbor on Ottawa in Norridge. I remember the summers when grandpa and John joked and laughed about everything under the sun. He was always friendly with us and will be missed. May he rest peacefully, Kurt Semon Friend and neighbor

On behalf of Kelsey's work family, we send our sympathies. Seeing Kelsey light up when she talks about "Goppy" tells us all we need to know about how special he really was. A memorial gift has been made in his honor to the Fisher House Foundation which allows family to stay close to hospitalized service members and veterans.

Our hearts are breaking with the news of Mr. John Pausche's passing. I've known him for as long as I have been best friends with his son (nearly 50 years). He was a wonderful man and a terrific role model. He always treated me like a second son and was a wonderful mentor. I will always remember the three of us watching the 1976 Daytona 500 in the Pausche's basement. As the exciting race came down to the end we kept drawing closer and closer to the TV, and on the final lap when Richard Petty and David Pearson crashed, all three of us were on our hands and knees about 2 feet from the screen. Mr. Pausche loved racing and he loved cars. He passed that love on to his son and me, which will stand as a tribute to his memory for as long as we live. He and his loving wife raised three wonderful, highly successful children, who, in turn, have raised their own wonderful families. One cannot hope for a greater legacy than that. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. All our love to the entire Pausche family.
