Josephine Anita Abbate, 83, of Algonquin, died peacefully on July 9, 2021, with her family at her side at JourneyCare in Barrington.
Josephine was born on May 2, 1938, in Chicago to parents Salvatore and Rosalie (nee Contorno) Cascio. On May 4, 1957, she married her childhood sweetheart, Paul Abbate. They spent many happy years together until his death in 1994.

Dubbed “The Queen” by her family, she was a wonderful woman who would do anything for her family and friends. She loved Good Food, Good Friends, and Good Fun. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Please accept my deepest sympathies and know that you are all in my prayers. Josie, like her husband Paul, was one of the sweetest people I knew.
Our Father in Heaven, we ask you to bless us, the poor in spirit and grant us your conciliation. We ask that you look favorably upon your daughter Josephine, who has left this world and grant her peace and eternal life with you in Heaven. Lord, grant us all the grace to rejoice with you and the angels that your faithful servant has been taken up to Heaven. For death in this world is only the beginning of eternal joy and happiness made possible by the death and resurrection of your son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
My prayers are with you. Josie will be missed.
