Charles Fester

Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Fester, 63, died on Saturday, July 10, 2021.

Chuck was born in Chicago on June 23, 1958, to parents Walter and Barbara (nee Carlson) Fester. After meeting at a friend’s house, it was love at first sight, and he married Tanja Kampy on July 19, 1985.
Chuck was incredibly dedicated to his family. He worked hard to provide for them and was very proud of his daughters. He loved hosting family parties and could often be found at the grill overserving everyone. He loved to cheer on the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Bulls, watching wrestling and the history channel and he enjoyed gambling at the slot machines to try his luck. He loved to prank his family and friends and was the ultimate wisecracker. Chuck was a selfless man of conviction and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Tanja Fester, his daughters, Kristina (Mike) Fuller, Brittany Fester, and Courtney (David) Przybylski, and his grandchildren, Ryan, Weston, Jameson, and Everley.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 17, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to time of service 4:00 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.

I had the privilege of meeting Chuck just under 3 years ago as I was about to take over managing the Western McHenry County Distribution Agency for the Chicago Tribune. Chuck apparently was a longtime contractor there. He came up to me with a big smile introducing himself. "I like to keep it light around here. I'm kind of a jokester." He said laughing. I couldn't help but laugh too. However Chuck was also one hard worker. He handled 400 to 500 papers a day. Ran missed papers out to customers everywhere and anywhere everyday until 11am. Also delivered stores on Saturdays and ran papers to 20 apt doors in a huge 3 story apt. complex everyday. And he never complained, always did an excellent job. He loved making the subscribers happy. He loved his family very much. I could tell...his wife and daughters and grandchildren were his life. They were the reason he worked so hard. He wanted them to be happy. I think Chuck was the most selfless person I ever met. I will miss him dearly. We talked everyday about almost anything everyday for a few minutes. I miss that. I miss Chuck. I'm proud to call Chuck a friend. Rest in Peace Chuck. He's probably up in Heaven now trying to keep things light around there.
