Mark Michelini passed away on July 11, 2021 at the age of 52, after a courageous fight with cancer. Many people did not know of his battle with cancer in recent years, as he never stopped facing life’s challenges with a smile.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 4-7:30 pm, with a service at 7:30pm; all at DeFiore
Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to
St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
Mark was born September 17, 1968, the son of William and Linda Michelini. On February 5,1994, he married Tara Raymondi. Mark was a proud ironworker and member of local 63 for more than 33 years. Mark worked closely with his father throughout his career, and went on tobecome a general superintendent for VEI, Inc. He took great pride in his work, and continued working throughout most of his illness, never missing a day. He finally retired on March 12 of this year, so that he could spend more time with his beloved wife Tara, and their three beautiful children: Adam, Max and Noah.
In the beginning of his illness, Mark reignited his passion for art and creativity. He spent much of his time scouring the internet and local barns for reclaimed items with which to utilize. He made many gifts for his family, which will be treasured for generations. Mark’s favorite place to
be was oceanside. He and his family were able to visit the beach several times over the past few years, the last of which was just weeks prior to his passing.
Mark was a loving and devoted family man. His favorite times were spent coaching his boy’s baseball teams, spending time with them at the beach, boating or just relaxing at home in the backyard hammock. He enjoyed all types of music, specifically metal and rock, his motorcycle,
and baseball. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and was able to take his sons to spring training just two years ago. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Tara, his three sons, Adam, Maxwell, and Noah, as well as many
extended family members, including his father William, his brothers, Michael (Maria) Michelini, John (Lori) Schulget, Billy, Jr. (Sara) Michelini, Steven (Paula) Michelini, his sister, Julie (Jeremy) Brown, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda.
