Patrick Freeman

Obituary

Patrick J. Freeman, 85, of Huntley, died peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021, in Algonquin.
Patrick was born on March 6, 1936, in Chicago to parents Edward and Mary (nee Garrity) Freeman. Patrick married Barbara Argast on June 18, 1955, and they spent 66 years together. Patrick was a proud Chicago Firefighter and was very active with the fire department. His true passion in life, however, was his family. He was entirely devoted to them and loved to spend time with them. He could often be found boating at his summer home at Powers Lake, Wisconsin, and he loved to go bowling, play bocce ball, and watch westerns. He was a strong leader, a go-getter, and a dedicated family man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Freeman, his son, Michael (Debra) Freeman, his grandchildren, Michael (Gabriela) Freeman, and Cindy (Fermin) Trujillo, his great-grandchildren, Teisha, Joshua, Layla, Raelyn, and Camila, and his siblings, Jerry (Clare) Freeman, and Terry (Debbie) Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Michael Freeman.

Pat was a great pal and I have many fond memories of our time on Division Street. Every day was a grand day. He ran a great engine company and was enormously respected by his firemen. I will always think of him and remember all of our days.

My friendship with Pat spanned 23 years. He was a Local 52 Tuckpointer as well as a fire fighter. I enjoyed his detailed, very entertaining stories. He was a good, honest man and I looked up to him. He was also responsible for recommending me to my position at KGH Architects and Engineers. I will greatly miss him. My condolences and love to Barb

I was so sorry to hear about Pat. He and your family were such great lake-neighbors. He made summers at the lake feel like those old movies from the 50's where every neighbor knew each other and were good friends. I know it sounds strange since I would only see him a few times a year, but I will miss Pat very much.
