Leroy Totman

Obituary

Leroy Martin Totman, Jr., 79, of Huntley, died on September 4, 2021, at Northwestern Hospital, Huntley.
Lee was born and raised in Chicago on May 26, 1942, to parents Leroy Martin Totman, Sr. and Mae Ruth Stroh. Lee married Patricia “Pat" (Gola) on August 9, 1969. He was a dedicated roofer and roofing inspector for over 30 years.
Lee was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps where he served from July 9, 1959 to July 8, 1963. He greatly enjoyed volunteering as Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Coordinator for McHenry County, bringing joy to children less fortunate for over a decade. He was an active member of the Huntley Fishing Club and the Huntley Bocce Ball League.
Lee loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and traveling with Pat. He was always good at telling an elaborate story or good joke and cracking open an ice-cold beer.
He lived a long life filled with many ups and downs and always proved to stand strong and to be the pillar and strength of his family.
Beloved husband to Patricia, A.K.A. “Stella” (nee Gola), father of Michelle (late Chris) O’Gara, Joe (Heather) Totman, Eileen Rivera, and Paul Totman. Beloved grandfather of Dani, Kaysee, CJ, Hunter, Garret, Morgan, Tess, Amanda, and Tori.
Loving brother, brother-in-law, and cousin; uncle to many nieces and nephews; great friend to many.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 9 a.m. to time of Memorial Mass 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.

Since condolences to Pat as well as the entire family. I can not image your loss and heart break. But I hope you find comfort in knowing he will be with Marines that had passed on before him. Lee was a bit hard headed at times but it’s what made him…him. None other like him. He had that smirk smile and a story / joke to tell whenever he could. I enjoyed for so many years (long ago) all of the T4T events as well as MCL events. I still have my USMC Barbie he gave me years ago. I will cherish it forever. We spoke of polishing rocks and gemstones sometimes. We even compared toppings for Polish food. I promised him some homemade pierogi just couple of weeks ago. I will think of Lee now every time I have a pierogi. Rest In Peace.

Our condolences to you Pat and your entire family. As a true Marine, Lee not only took care of his family but thought of others also. Those who were less fortunate. True to his Marine background, he served his country honorably. He gave his all to caring for needy children by collect and distributing " Toys for tots " every year. No man stands as tall, as a man who truly cares for the needy! Hooray Lee! R.I.P.
