Matthew A. Horney, 33, of Wisconsin Dells, formerly of Lake in the Hills, died suddenly, September 6, 2021.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 12, 2021, from 3:00 to 7:00pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 11:00am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to https://gofund.me/845944c0
Matthew was born July 14, 1988, in Elk Grove Village, IL, the son of Kevin K. and Mary Kay Horney. He graduated from UIC. On June 15, 2019, he married Abigail “Abby” Badgley. Matthew was working as a pharmacist for Phillips total care. He was a gadget guy and took great pleasure in taking things apart and putting them back together, he was a problem solver, he had recently become a self-taught woodworker and was able to master that craft quickly. He had a love for learning. Matthew’s whole world was Abby, Isaac, and his dog Henry. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. His time here was way to short but in that time, he loved hard, lived well, and impacted all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Abby, his son, Isaac, his parents, Kevin and Mary Kay Horney, his siblings, Lauren (Alex) Cantu, Kenneth (Kaleigh) Horney, Kristin (Fred Dobry) Horney and Josh Horney. He is survived by his grandparents, Mary Claps (Bob Mede), and Jerry and Nancy Horney, by his 7 nieces and nephews, Oliver, Elliott, Nora, Ada, Holland, Scottlyn and Theodore and by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Matthew is also survived by all of Abby’s loving family.
He is preceded in death by grandparents and uncles.
