Martin “Tom” Barrett, passed away on September 11, 2021, at the age of 75, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 11, 1946, in San Jose, California.
Tom worked as a Machinist for United Airlines, until his retirement in 2017. He and Joni enjoyed retirement traveling in their RV to visit old and new places. He was mechanically inclined and could fix anything. In his spare time, his love of hot rods, and radio controlled airplanes kept him busy. Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joni, his children, Janine (Geoffrey) Martin, Julie (Michael) Hermann, and Jimmy (Dawn) Barrett, and by his six grandchildren, Josephine, Brinleigh, Jack, Maxwell, Sophia and Brady. He is also survived by many family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elinor Mahne.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 9:00am until the time of the 10:00am Mass all at Holy Apostle Catholic Church in McHenry.

Tom was not only my mentor as a Machinist at United but he was a good friend and fellow hot rodder he will truly be missed by all

Joni, even though we didn’t have the privilege of knowing your Tom for very long, he was a wonderful neighbor who will reside in our memories eternal. We hope our Chief greeted him at Heaven’s door with a tail wag and a grateful “kiss” for all he did for us
