Obituary

Phyllis J. Neven, 92, of Huntley, died peacefully October 24, 2021
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 4-7pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 10:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church- 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
Phyllis was born June 13, 1929, in Chicago, the daughter of Matthew and Mildred Gafner. On September 15, 1951, she married John “Jack” Neven. The couple enjoyed 70 beautiful years of marriage. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed dancing and traveling with Jack. She was a member of the Celtic Club and Scandinavian Club and was an avid Chicago Cub Fan.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, her children, Jeannine (Paul) Wentzlaff, Michael (Lyn) Neven, Daniel (Kimberly) Neven, Eileen (Greg) Hurt, and Scott (Margaret) Neven, by her 10 grandchildren, Ian, Emilia, Paul, Chris, Tim, Megan, Katie, Kelly, Robert, and Ryan and by 8 great grandchildren and by her brother, James Gafner.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents.

I remember Phyllis and Jack greeting everyone and dancing at our Celtic Club. They were so full of energy and such a fun loving couple. God bless you Jack and your family. She will be missed greatly.
