Obituary

Theresia Libera, 86, of Bloomingdale, died peacefully surrounded by her family in her daughter’s home on November 7, 2021.
Theresia was born in Yugoslavia on February 6, 1935, to parents Joseph and Barbara (nee Geisinger) Gartner. After coming to America in 1955, she met Steve Libera while working at the Hammond Organ Company, and they married in 1957. Theresia and Steve had two children (Stephen and Linda), and nothing brought Theresia more joy than cooking and spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved to dance. She loved flowers and spent much of her time in her garden. She had a feisty personality and did not shy away from telling you how it is. She was a devout Catholic and supported many charities throughout her life, including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Boys Town, and St. Benedict’s Abbey, to name a few. She was loving, strong, selfless, and hard-working. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Theresia is survived by her husband, Steve Libera, her children, Stephen Libera and Linda (David) Bargiel, her grandchildren, Amanda and Megan, her sister, Barbara Lettenmair and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Kislinger.
A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd., Huntley.
Inurnment to follow mass at Huntley Cemetery Columbarium, Dean Street, Huntley.
