Tyler Lee Henken, 29, of Lake in the Hills, formerly of Carpentersville, died on November 29, 2021 unexpectedly at work.
Tyler was born on September 8, 1992 in Chicago and raised by parents David and Tracy (Box) Henken. In the summer 2017, Tyler surprised his now Wife, Alyssa Parker, with asking for her hand in marriage at DisneyLand. They married on October 19, 2019, and spent their honeymoon in Disney World. Tyler was completely devoted to his wife and their families. He was a driven, goal-oriented young man who was incredibly generous with everything he had. He loved to inspire children and volunteered with kids as much as he could. He was very active and involved with football and wrestling at Hebron High School, an NCA wrestler at University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and played football at Aurora University. In which he and his Wife graduated in 2018. He was a skilled handyman and was always willing to tackle a new project. Whether it was building a tree house or remodeling their Home. Tyler was a loyal friend who dedicated his life to help those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Tyler is survived by his beloved wife, Alyssa Henken, whom he loved “to infinity and beyond”; his parents; David and Tracy Henken, Alyssa’s parents; Chip and Susan Parker, Alyssa’s brother, Tyler Parker, his siblings, Mike (Chelsea Healy) Mahoney, Cody (Tessa) Henken, Courtney (Jeff Fryza) Henken, Peyton Henken, his nieces and nephews, Emma, Coby, Nash, Mack, and Eastynn, and his beloved dogs, Simba, Minnie, and Tinkerbell.
Visitation for Tyler will be Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
The Funeral will be Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, 8901 Cary Algonquin Road, Cary.
Due to Covid-19, masks will be required and no food or drink is permitted.

Dave , Tracy and family; Our hearts break for you. Few people have an opportunity to meet and know someone as wonderful as Tyler. We will always remember him as a great wrestler who made others better but he was so much more! A leader, caring, giving, helpful and a wonderful son and husband. He truly loved each of you. He had a heart of gold, was always willing to help, and was so much fun to watch on the field and on the mat. Tyler was a member of our Band and choir for many years, and gave 100%, as he did in everything he participated in. Later I was fortunate enough to have Tyler as a student in History and English. And when I directed my last play at Hebron, Tyler was one of the leads in this very close knit group. What a great kid! I am so sorry for your loss! Thoughts and prayers.

I haven’t been able to find the right words to express my sympathy of the heartbreak of losing Tyler. I’m sending love and hugs to the whole family. Tyler was one of my best friends in high school. I’m so grateful to have such wonderful memories with him. He always gave 110% and then some. We sang a Christmas song as a duet together in high school and that song came on in the car the other day as a Cardinal flew by to let us know that he’s watching over us all and continuing to send his love and watch over us all.
