Obituary

Joseph “Joe” Hansen, 80, of Huntley, died, November 30, 2021.
Joe was born May17, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Joseph and Emma Hansen. On September 22, 1962, he married Betty Fuglestad. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years as a radarman on the USS Boston. He remained friends with of his Navy friends and would attend reunions every year. He worked at a chemical plant as a purchasing agent for over 38 years.
He enjoyed traveling with Betty, especially to Vegas and Cabo San Lucas. He and Betty always took an interest in what was going on in their community and would attend weekly Village Board Meetings. Joe was a member of the Huntley Cemetery Board and would assist families in selecting graves and kept great records of all his cemetery work. He would be on the computer for hours checking, buying, and selling stocks. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, children, Dawn (Carl) Steffen and Joseph J. Hansen (Maria Valhos) and by his six grandchildren, Brian (Kristin), Tiffany, Alex, Hunter, Kennedy, and Grant.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 1 p.m. to time of service 2 p.m. all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.

Betty, I don't know how I missed the obituary but I just read it and am shocked. I thought that Joe was so healthy. He did so much for the community and was humble, interesting with his political views, and just an all around terrific person. I am so very sorry. Ronda Goldman
