Obituary

Harold Griffin Mowbray, 95, of Algonquin, died peacefully on Friday afternoon, December 24, 2021.
Harold was born August 2, 1926, in Chicago to parents Thomas and Mabel (nee Griffin) Mowbray. After meeting Elsie Bauer in grammar school and growing up together, Harold and Elsie were married on July 12, 1947, they spent 69 happily married years together before Elsie’s death on August 23, 2016. Harold was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he was a navigator and afterwards learned to fly and became a pilot. He was passionate about working with electronics, was a Ham radio operator for forty years, enjoyed geocaching and woodworking. He worked for Admiral TV Repair before retiring after 10 years with Motorola. He was a loving family man with a quick wit who will be missed by all who knew him.

Harold is survived by his daughters, Ellen (Dan) Black, and Cathy (Scott) Nerby, his grandchildren, Erin, Kevin, Michael, Ryan, Megan, Kathleen, Mary, Laura, Colin, Jason, Shane, and Kari, and his great-grandchildren, Chloe, Jaden, Ashton, Kaylie, Hunter, Noah, Madison, Aiden, Ari, Charlotte, Beckham, Boden, and Charlotte.

Visitation for Harold will be Friday, January 7, 2022, from 9 a.m. to the time of the Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. all to be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL.
Following mass, Harold and Elsie will both be interned at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 West Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421.
