Randy Buettner

Obituary

Randy Buettner, 59, of Huntley, formerly of Cary, died on December 27, 2021.
Randy was born in Chicago on February 19, 1962, to parents Edward and Ella (nee McCabe) Buettner, Sr. Randy grew up in the Chicagoland area and enjoyed sports and the outdoors. Randy married Donna Ballard, his high school sweetheart, on December 31, 1988. Randy was a devoted loving husband, always treating Donna as the center of his universe. He enjoyed Nascar, camping and taking family trips. He was a skilled woodworker making his loved ones beautiful one of a kind pieces. He enjoyed painting inspirational creative rocks for #kindnessrocks and leaving them for families to find all over the United States. He loved to cook and was known for his infamous breakfast potatoes, chili, ribs, elaborate cakes, colorful deviled eggs, and festive fruit and veggie trays for the holidays. Randy loved his freedom on his Harley and raising money for different charities through motorcycle rides. He was a successful business owner of 17 years until he retired in 2018. Randy was known as a “comedy dad” by many Chicagoland comedians because of his dedicated love and support. His boisterous laugh and contagious smile will be missed by comedy clubs across Chicago. He had a great sense of humor and was telling jokes until the day he died. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Buettner, his children, Katie (Charles Cook) Holz, Angela Golden, and David A. Buettner, his grandchildren, Abby, Matthew, Gavin, Ruby, and Lexi, his siblings, Edward (Tammi) Buettner and Jerry Wuetcher, and his nieces and nephews, Brandon (Emily) Buettner and Alex Buettner. He is also survived by his in-laws, mother and father in-law, Gail and Jim Karlo, brothers in-law, Dewey Ballard and Jimmy (Michelle) Ballard, sister in-law, Pamela (Brian) Brown, and nephews, Bob Ballard and JT (Savannah) Ballard.

Randy’s celebration of life will be held in the spring/summer of 2022.

We didn't know Randy personally but my family sure did appreciate and love him. We were connected for a short time finding his #kindnessrocks #huntleyfindsrocks and he was our favorite rock man! Randy, you have spread so much joy to us and made our day on many, many accounts over that time. Donna, we love you also for all your kindness and community support. We are so sorry for your loss.

I have known and been friends with Randy since he and I were both 14 years old. We went to our 1st concert, STYX, in 1978 with his older Brother Ed, who was gracious enough to take us! We rode motorcycle's together, lived in the same Apartment complex, and we even worked at the same Tool & Die factory together. He later married my Sister Donna in 1988. We didn't get to hang together as much as we had, but marriage and kids, for both of us, will cause that. Lol. When ever we were able to get together it was always a great time! I obviously have way too many stories I could tell, but will wait for his Celebration of Life and share them then. Brother you are so Loved and will be greatly missed. Till we meet again in Valhalla! Love ya Bro!!!!

I've known Randy and Donna since 1979, I've seen them go through ups and downs but their love and respect for each other always saw them through. Donna, I am so sorry he was taken too soon, he still had so much to offer. He loved and adored you and everyone could see it. My love and prayers to you, the girls, and all of the family who feel his loss.
