Emilie Sue Malkowski

Obituary

Emilie Sue Malkowski née Sams passed away peacefully on January 25,2022.
Sue, was born on June 25, 1938 in Hector Ky, to Kelly and Laura (nee Thompson) Sams. She graduated HS from Oneida Baptist Academy at the age of 16. Shortly after her 17th birthday she moved to Chicago to be near her sisters. On May 3, 1958 she married the love of her life Aloysius J. Malkowski. She raised their 4 children, Aloysius J Malkowski Jr, Cheryl A. (Jami) Thompson, David T. Malkowski, and Barbara L. (Michael) Sheehan on the Northwest side of Chicago, where they lived for forty years. During the school year, Sue kept busy volunteering as a Den Mother, Cookie Mom and various school organizations. When the call went out that volunteers were needed, she always tried to help. Summers were spent at their Lake House in Saugatuck MI, where many friends and memories were made. In 1977 she began working for Jewel Foods as a meat wrapper. She did this for the next 25 years. Sue and Al together loved to travel, and felt blessed that they were able to see so many places including, Australia, New Zeeland, England, and Hawaii, to name a few. Once retired, they split their time between Saugatuck and Holiday Fl, where they lived until Al’s passing in 2007. In 2008, Sue moved to Huntley, IL, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She quickly became involved at St. Mary’s Church in many ministries including SPREAD and Pro-Life. She attended daily mass and committed several hours a week to adoring our Lord in the Adoration Chapel at St. Mary’s. She loved to go out for breakfast with all her friends after mass and was always honored when one of the priests could join them. She truly loved her St. Mary family. When she wasn’t at Church, you could find her in one of the many local thrift stores shopping! She was a proud Republican, and wasn’t afraid to voice her opinions. She was the very best Nana and Granny Nana to 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren officially, but countless others called her Nana.
She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, Angelica, Michelle D., James, Amber, Jaime, Brandon S, Austin, Michael, Dana, Brandon, Michelle A., Mary and Thomas, and her great grandchildren, Emilie, Annabella, Everett, Bernadette, and Alonzo. Her sister Joyce (Roy) McCarty. She was a loving aunt/ great aunt, to many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, her parents and 8 siblings, Estil, Rosemarie, Harvey, Jean, Jane, Millicent, Joe and Chelsea.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 9:00am until the 10:00am Mass all at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may direct to St. Mary Catholic Church.

Sue is a joy to have known. Always encouraging and loving. I can literally hear her talking to Cheryl and I about our teenage years and the friendship we shared (Cheryl you know what I’m talking about). Always loved her! She’s resting in the hands of her beloved husband and her lord.

Sue, your love of God, St Mary Church, family and wonderful friends was so obvious. I always thought you were wearing a halo as I observed you in your kind ways and perseverence in attending church, regardless of the the weather. Your generosity became known to me when you sent your Chicago grandson, Michael, to the Holy Land on a pilgrimage that I also participated in. You wanted the best for him and that was your way with everyone. May your soul rest in peace.

May the angels lead her into paradise, and may the martyrs welcome her on her way, and lead her into the holy city, Jerusalem. May the choirs of angels welcome her, and with Lazarus, who once was poor, may she have everlasting life.
